Look Good Feel Better

It was a real joy and honour to volunteer recently for the Look Good Feel Better charity.  A dear friend of mine had breast cancer last year and my gorgeous mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer early this year.  Both had to undergo chemotherapy and it was through their experiences that I heard about the Look Good Feel Better charity

Look Good Feel Better is the only international cancer support charity that helps women and teenagers manage the visible side effects of cancer treatment. Their aim is to greatly increase people’s confidence and self-esteem at a very difficult time in their lives. They run free workshops to teach women how to take the best care of their skin and apply makeup to give them a real confidence boost.  Here is a quote from a lady who attended a LGFB workshop:

I learnt so much at the session. The pyschological impact of cancer is largely unaddressed and learning to apply my make-up properly made me feel more feminine, like my old self and was a real confidence booster. Just what I needed.

By volunteering my services once or twice a month, I hope to help ladies and give them a confidence boost when they most need it, as it did to my mum and friend.  Every attendee is also given a goodie bag of skin care and makeup items to take home - all items have been donated by various cosmetic companies.
